by Christopher M. Dewees
This autobiographical book weaves together the personal journey of Dewees life as a Marine Fisheries Specialist, Emeritus at UC Davis and a lifelong practice and fascination of Gyotaku.
With over 100 of his Japanese fish prints, this beautiful book includes short stories, poems, technical and practical information.
Gyotaku found its roots in the middle of the 19th century when fisherman would ink the catch on paper or cloth, remnants of which still adorn fishing supply stores.
A popular craft activity at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium for children and adults, in 2017 a special Masterclass with Christopher Dewees was held in the classroom to celebrate the publishing of this book.
